Debbie Wasserman Schultz Attacks Mike Huckabee for Saying Obama’s Iran Deal Akin to Marching Israelis Into Oven

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Attacks Mike Huckabee for Saying Obama’s Iran Deal Akin to Marching Israelis Into Oven
by Matthew Boyle 26 Jul 2015Washington, DC
Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) 4% is attacking former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for comments he made in an interview on Breitbart News Saturday hosted by Breitbart editor-in-chief Alexander Marlow on the SiriusXM Patriot channel 125.

Huckabee, when discussing the ramifications President Obama’s nuclear arms deal with Iran will have on Israelis, said that this deal is akin to marching the Jews into the oven—a direct reference to the Holocaust.

“This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history. It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven,” Huckabee said, adding: “This is the most idiotic thing, this Iran deal. It should be rejected by both Democrats and Republicans in Congress and by the American people. I read the whole deal. We gave away the whole store. It’s got to be stopped.”

Wasserman Schultz, in response—along with loads of liberal media outlets—are targeting Huckabee.

“This rhetoric, while commonplace in today’s Republican presidential primary, has no place in American politics,” Wasserman Schultz said, according to CNN. “Cavalier analogies to the Holocaust are unacceptable. Mike Huckabee must apologize to the Jewish community and to the American people for this grossly irresponsible statement.”

Huckabee’s spokeswoman Alice Stewart told Breitbart News in response that the governor isn’t backing down. “Gov. Huckabee has always said the Iran deal was a bad deal, that means bad for America and bad for Israel,” Stewart said in an email. “He meant what he said.”

Several other liberals throughout the mainstream media joined Wasserman Schultz in attacking Huckabee.

Huffington Post senior editor Alana Horowitz, in a Tweet, argued that now “Huckabee bests Trump in race for the most insane 2016 quote.”

She added in a follow-up Tweet: “dear politicians: please stop comparing the holocaust to things that are not the holocaust.”

Time Magazine’s Zeke Miller, who used to work for BuzzFeed, commented via Twitter after sending out the quote and a link: “Um wow.”

Barak Ravid, a reporter for the Haaretz Newspaper based in Tel-Aviv, called Huckabee “crazy” on Twitter.

Politico’s Ken Vogel commented while Tweeting out the story: “Ugh.”
