Democratic Sen. Mark Udall of Colorado and his likely Republican opponent, Rep. Cory Gardner, are in a statistical dead heat in the latest Rasmussen poll.

Forty-two percent of likely voters in the Centennial State said they would vote for Udall if the vote were held now, with 41 percent saying they would support Gardner. Thirteen percent of voters said they were undecided in the survey taken from March 5-6 of 500 likely voters. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.

The two-term congressman announced his candidacy in February to challenge the freshman incumbent, causing other GOP candidates to back out of the race.

Gardner decided to run after he saw Udall's double-digit lead over other GOP candidates sink because of the Colorado Democrat's support for Obamacare.
